Fundamentals of Infusion Therapy
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of infusion therapy. Designed for licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) and registered nurses (RNs), the course covers essential topics such as vascular access devices, infusion procedures, fluid and electrolyte balance, infection control, and the management of infusion-related complications. Participants will gain hands-on experience through practical demonstrations and clinical practice sessions. By the end of this course, nurses will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively administer infusion therapy in various healthcare settings.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
Understand the Basics of Infusion Therapy
– Explain the principles and importance of infusion therapy in patient care.
– Identify different types of vascular access devices and their appropriate uses.
Hands-On Practice and Clinical Skills
Participants will engage in practical demonstrations and clinical practice sessions, including:
– Inserting and managing peripheral IV lines.
– Administering Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and other IV medications.
– Using infusion pumps and monitoring devices.
– Identifying and responding to infusion-related complications.
This course combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills to prepare nurses for effective and safe infusion therapy practices in various healthcare settings.
